Hola and Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site and the next step to learn more about me and my journey to this point.
My name is Dr. Jannette Chaparro Hughes and I have had the privilege to dedicate my life and career to education.
I recently received my E.d.D (Doctorate) from Concordia University this year, 2018.
I was born in Rincon, Puerto Rico and with the exception of a few early childhood years in New Jersey, I spent most of my young life being raised in the beautiful but the small, Puerto Rico town best known from great surfing and beaches.
I was fortunate to have parents who valued education for all their children and supported my natural curiosity and appetite to learn, challenge and grow through school and community activities.

Despite many obstacles, I was determined to attend and excel in college and when opportunity presented itself, moved to the mainland United States to work and continue my education.
2002 – Bachelors Of Arts, Concordia University – Winconsin
2004 – Master of Science – Curriculum and Instruction, University of Wisconsin-Malwaukee
2008 – Master of Educational Leadership Administration and Supervision Program, National Louis University, Milwaukee, WI
2018 – Doctor of Education (E.d.D) in Educational Leadership, Concordia University
I am a Spanish speaker first bi-lingual, and appreciate first hand the challenges associated with achieving these degrees as well as educating our rapidly growing English as a second language learner.
For over thirteen years, I taught in the Milwaukee, WI public school system as well as select private and charter schools in the area supporting the underserved.
I chose to focus on children, grades 3 through 5, predominantly coming from a bi-lingual household with English as a second language.
Often challenged with the learning material and cultural influences at home, I loved helping these bright young minds see and achieve a bigger visions for themselves.

My passion and commitment to educating the Latino learners continues.
The past three and one-half years in pursuing my Doctorate in Education was immersed in the deep examination and study of what University and higher education are, and should be doing, to ensure that the Hispanic student population achieves, and even exceeds college graduation rates of their peers.
JCHI and the assortment of resources, media and content properties planned are dedicated to the stakeholders in educating the future generation of learners and leaders in the Latino community; the students, the community and the universities.</.p>
I invite you to join me on this journey of discovery, discussions and decisions that will hopefully impact us all in a positive way.
Enjoy
